Miss Delaware 2014 Loses Crown

According to the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization via the Delaware State News

“The Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization announced this afternoon that first-runner up, Miss Wilmington Brittany Lewis, has been awarded the title of Miss Delaware 2014 effective today. She will officially be crowned Thursday evening at Dover Downs Hotel Casino in the Mezzanine at 7:30 p.m., at the site of the annual Miss Delaware Pageant and will go on to represent the state at the national competition.

Following the Miss Delaware Pageant, it was determined that Amanda Longacre exceeded the age requirement in order to be eligible to compete therefore, the Miss Delaware 2014 title was awarded to Ms. Lewis. Ms. Longacre is currently 24 years old but will turn 25 in October after the Miss America Pageant is held in September, which exceeds that pageant’s age limit.

According to a statement, The Miss Delaware Pageant congratulates Ms. Lewis and wishes Ms. Longacre the very best on her future endeavors. The organization awards over $40,000 of scholarships. ”
